the gods betray her trust.she had felt it through the night as it swept away the day, poisoning the dreams of mankind, feeling the rough waves of a turning tide. she seethes.she hears it in the screams of birds as she walks through the woods, to the heart of it, where she might meet him. WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! she rages.they could never keep anything from her, not really. while they toyed with men, she had embedded herself with wild magic, her influence stretching far and wide over fae folk, the good and the green. the light, all consuming. the flames of ruination take their hold on every throne, even hers. she thrashes.in the end, it had been the woods to do it. at least the very act of betrayal, though she suspects it had been a plot of all of them. he lures her down, down, down with a shattering trust. she doesn't realize she's drowning until the comfort of roots is gone, and her lungs are full of dark magic. behind her, as she falls into a doorway, ancient and foul, [DEATH] slips out right in her place. her old oak stolen from her, while she is chained to the roots. and she burns. every hope, every trust, every bit of love inside of her turns to ash. the red fire of her hair and heart gone, turned to cinders.unable to reach the light, the goddess is imprisoned in the dark realm of death. eons later, ella ashmore approaches the old oak filled with a bubbling fury and accompanied by the skinned corpses of girls she loved, their blood fresh. too soon.THE EARTH QUAKED, SOMETHING STIRRED FROM ITS AGELESS SLUMBER BENEATH THAT OLD OAK. - born on the isle of the lost- cj was a very sick baby and a very hard baby, she wouldn't eat but then the lack of eating made her sick and- mom was an addict and not at all involved in her life besides baiting cj that she would come see her, harriet told her she was sick and couldn't be around (which she was, but, yk). mom became completely out of her life when she was about 6 or 7. cj would act out because of this, and the slips of her mother only made her worse.- her siblings (primarily harriet) cared for her and raised her, with help from their father's first mate, smee, when cj was a baby.- her dad was also not involved with her life and generally ignored her until he had use for her when she was old enough (10-ish) to 'work' for him. this left a lot of attention-seeking behaviors for harriet, smee, and harry to deal with.- around the ages of 10 and 11, cj's father summoned her to protect his honor through means of silent violence in the night, taking care of his enemies and ensuring his fearsome reputation that james hook could get you wherever you stood. and cj, small, neglected, and arguably naive, did everything he asked out of admiration and being threatened to keep secrecy.-
